Floodline Ranger® Distance Measuring Oil Sensor Cable detects the presence of liquid hydrocarbons for up to 1500 metres at any point along its entire length and does does not react to the presence of water. Installed with a Floodline Ranger® Leak Detection Module, the cable senses a hydrocarbon liquid leak, triggers an alarm and pinpoints the location of the leak to within a metre.
Floodline Ranger® provides distributed leak detection and location for a wide range of applications. The cable is available in a variety of lengths to provide as much coverage as required up to 1500 metres.
The modular sensing cables can be connected in series to provide distributed distance measuring for applications such as trenches, sub-floors, double-containment pipework or used individually for double-containment tanks, sumps and shorter lengths and smaller areas.
Floodline Ranger® uses radiation-crosslinking and conductive-polymer technology to make the sensing cable mechanically strong and chemically resistant. The core of the cable has two sensing wires, an alarm signal wire and a continuity wire. The core is encased in a conductive-polymer jacket and surrounded with a fluoropolymer braid. The rugged construction guarantees reliable performance in the most demanding environments.
The cable must be replaced after exposure to hydrocarbon liquids. The cable is resistant to chemical exposure in accordance with ASTM D 543 at +23°C (+73°F) for seven days including sulphuric acid (10%), hydrochloric acid (10%), nitric acid (10%) and sodium hydroxide (10%). The cable is resitant to water less than 10μA leakage when immersed in salt water for 90 days.
Floodline Ranger® Leak Detection Cable is approved for installation in hazardous areas when used in conjunction with Floodline Ranger® Leak Detection Module and Zener safety barriers when appropriate.
